Hi, my name is Cari Werz. I am from Virginia and I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. My degrees are in Fine Arts with a concentration in glass working and Art Education. I started teaching in 2005. I have 8 years experience in teaching art grades 6-9.
I grew up playing a variety of sports, but my favorite was soccer. My first year of college I attended Longwood University where I played on the women's varsity soccer team. I coached soccer for 5 years at my previous middle school in Virginia and also coached Students Run LA (SRLA) for a middle school in CA. I am am avid believer that health and fitness plays a key role in your level of happiness, energy, stress, and confidence. Crossfit is my current love for my personal fitness. I am assisting in bringing over the Crossfit program from Da Vinci Scienece over here to Da Vinci Design and Communication.
I plan to inspire students to view the world through a different lens exposing students to various techniques and cultures. I plan to teach students the Da Vinci Design process in realistic world scenarios. The design process consists of the 4 C's: Care, Create, Concept, and Critique. I also plan to help students explore their identity though expression and symbolism. At the end of each project students will critique their own work as well as their peer's work in a professional constructive manner using appropriate art language.
I am thrilled and honored to be part of the innovative inspiring Da Vinci Family where students truly grow into young professionals and become inspired to make a difference in the world and in their community.
